For the first time in Finland — the Georgian ensemble MARGALEF!!!
In June 2026, the wonderful Georgian group Margalef (from Senaki) will visit Finland and Estonia. In the autumn of 2025, the group performed with great success in Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, and Hungary, where audiences warmly welcomed these talented musicians. In January 2026, the ensemble performed at the Kaunas Philharmonic in Lithuania, where the concert was completely sold out with 700 attendees.
The ensemble’s repertoire includes ancient Georgian chants from various regions, church hymns, and modern Georgian songs.
These will be unforgettable concerts! Georgian polyphony is an ancient and unique vocal art technique in which several male voices perform songs simultaneously without instruments (a cappella). This style is characterized by complex harmony that developed independently of the Western European musical tradition and includes several regional variations. UNESCO has recognized Georgian polyphony as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. A distinctive feature of Georgian folk singing is its mesmerizing vocal polyphony. The magnificent, piercing tones of Georgian polyphony evoke deep aesthetic pleasure.
Line-up: Dimitri Kakulia (Artistic Director), Rati Saria, Ilia Tsomaia, Ushangi Chilachava.
